“There would be an appetite for more traditional debt arrangements and, given that leading cannabis companies have significant assets now, this may be one direction that we see the market go in the future,” said Cam Battley, executive vice president of Aurora Cannabis Inc., a licensed marijuana producer in Mountain View County, Alberta. “I suspect we’re headed in that direction right now.”

Canadian marijuana companies have tapped capital markets to fund expansion plans amid expectations that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government will unveil a proposed law as early as Thursday to set the stage for legalization in 2018. Shares in companies like Canopy Growth Corp., the first Canadian pot company with a market value of C$1 billion ($750 million) — making it a marijuana unicorn — have soared, and the company announced last week it will expand west by acquiring rTrees Producers Ltd. in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Aurora announced the sale of C$75 million of 7 percent convertible debentures, debt that can be converted to equity at a specific price, in a private placement Tuesday. The sale was increased from an initial target of C$40 million and marks the company’s third convertible debt deal. It sold C$15 million with a 10 percent coupon in September and C$25 million of debentures with an 8 percent coupon in October.

Aurora will use the proceeds from the sale to fund its international expansion, which includes acquiring a 19.9 percent stake in the first Australian company to be licensed to research and cultivate medical marijuana, Battley said.

“With the change in social attitudes, people are looking at the cannabis sector with different eyes,” he said in a phone interview. “This is going to be a significant market going forward.”

Aurora shares fell 7.6 percent to C$3.04 at 3:07 p.m. in Toronto, after soaring 18 percent Monday. The company has jumped 33 percent this year, for a market value of C$969 million.

Qualifying conditions to become a medical marijuana patient in Nevada include:

• AIDS
• Cancer
• Glaucoma
• Condition or treatment for a medical condition that produces cachexia (general physical wasting and malnutrition)
• Persistent muscle spasms (including multiple sclerosis)
• Seizures (including epilepsy)
• Severe nausea
• Severe pain

2. Find a doctor and schedule an appointment

Any Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) who is currently licensed and in good standing in Nevada can recommend a patient for the program. However, the vast majority of doctors have never written a Medical Marijuana prescription, and may be unfamiliar with the process. For this reason, Reef recommends finding a doctor who specializes in Medical Marijuana. Weedmaps and Leafly are both great resources for finding doctors near you that specialize in cannabis. We also have contact information below for a few doctors who we have experience working with and highly recommend.

3. Complete your application

Some doctors’ offices help with this step, so be sure to ask when you book your appointment. Be careful though, some doctors charge extra for this assistance. If your doctor charges extra, you can save money by simply completing the steps below by yourself and only have the doctor fill out the Attending Physician’s Statement.

Online Application

Registering online as a cardholder will save A LOT of time during the process of getting your Nevada Medical Card. To register online as a cardholder, visit https://mmportal.nv.gov/Account/Login, and click “Register as a Cardholder”, and follow the instructions. You can pay your $25 application fee and $75 registration fee directly on this page with a credit or debit card. After registering, sign in, and create, download, and print your application. You will need to pay at least the Application Fee in order to download your application packet. Once you have your application in hand, there are 6 components/pages that need to be filled out before your application will be ready for submission:

1. Cardholder Registration Application Form
   This form will be all of your basic information. Most of this information should be filled out already using the information you entered when you requested your application. Fill in any missing information, and verify that the existing information is correct. Once you have verified all the info, sign and date in the respective box.
2. Attending Physician’s Statement Form
   YOU DO NOT FILL THIS PAGE OUT WHATSOEVER
   This page is for your doctor. When scheduling your appointment with a doctor, remember to inform them that you ONLY need your Attending Physician’s Statement filled out. This is the form you need to doctor to fill out if you do the rest of the application yourself.
3. Waiver of Liability and Release Form
   You must sign this form in the presence of a notary. Most doctors’ offices have notaries on site (they may charge a small additional fee for this service), or you can use a separate notary service such as the UPS Store, some banks, post offices, etc. Do not fill these forms out until you are in front of a notary, as they need to physically witness you filling these forms out.
4. Acknowledgement Form
   Similar to #3 above, this form must be notarized.
5. Drivers License (Front)
   Place your ID and the blank page on your scanner or photocopier so that the scan captures the front of your license.
6. Drivers License (Back)
   Same as #5 above, but flip your license or ID over to capture the back.

Upon completing all 6 pages of your application packet, you will be ready to upload and submit it to the state online. To submit your application online, log back into the same page you downloaded your application from, and at the bottom of the page there will be an option to upload your application. Simply scan the completed forms, and follow the instructions on the page to upload them into the system. If you do not have a scanner, there are many smartphone apps available for little to no cost that you can use to scan each page of your application. Once all components are uploaded, they are automatically submitted to the state (there is no submit button).

Make sure to pay the $75 Registration Fee if you have not done so already, which can also be done online just like the $25 application fee. Within 24 hours of having paid and uploaded all documents, you should be able to download and print your Acceptance Letter (you have to check back on the website to see if it is available, you will not receive any notification when it is ready for download). This letter serves as a temporary card, allowing you to purchase and possess medicine in the state of Nevada for 60 days while you wait for your permanent card. Within 10 business days, your Medical Marijuana Card should arrive in your mailbox.

To request an application via mail, print out the Application Request form from the State Website, fill it out, and mail it, along with the $25 application request fee and copies of the front and back of your Nevada Driver’s License, to the following address:

Requirements:

• To enroll in Nevada’s Medical Marijuana Program, you must be a resident of Nevada with a valid Nevada ID.
• A person under 18 must have permission from their custodial parent or their guardian who is in charge of their medical decisions. And that person MUST act as the minor’s primary caregiver.
• You may be denied for the following reasons:
  • Failure to provide the required information.
  • Failure to establish the qualifying medical condition.
  • Failure to document the consultation with an attending physician regarding the medical use of marijuana in connection with the qualifying medical condition.
  • Failure to comply with the regulations adopted by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Administrator of the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH).
  • The Division of Health and Human Services determines that the information provided by the applicant was falsified.
  • The DPBH determines that the attending physician of the applicant is not licensed to practice medicine in this
  • In the case of a person under 18 years of age, the custodial parent or legal guardian with responsibility for health care decisions for the person has not signed the written statement required. state or is not in good standing, as reported by the Board of Medical Examiners.
  • The DPBH determines that the applicant, or the designated primary caregiver, if applicable, has been convicted of knowingly or intentionally selling a controlled substance.
  • The DPBH has previously prohibited the applicant from obtaining or using a registry identification card.
