Q: Can I buy recreational marijuana at Inyo today?
A: Sorry, no. Without a medical marijuana card, you can not purchase marijuana in the state of Nevada just yet. The state has up to a year to enable the purchasing of recreational marijuana, but we’re hopeful that it will happen this summer.
Q: So where can I buy marijuana right NOW?
A: You can only purchase it from a licensed dispensary with a medical marijuana card. Any other sale of marijuana is still a felony.
Q: But, can I possess weed now?
A: If you are an adult over 21 years old, it is legal for you to possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana or up to 1/8 of an ounce of marijuana concentrates.
Q: Can I smoke marijuana in public?
A: No can do. You can’t smoke (or otherwise consume) it in any public space, retail store, moving vehicle, casinos, local bars, hookah lounges, etc. Casinos abide by federal law, so until the Feds legalize marijuana, the casinos are saying nope to dope.
Q: What happens if i get caught smoking in public?
A: The good news is that it’s just a misdemeanor with a citation and a fine up to $600 per offense. The bad news is, it’s still a misdemeanor, citation and a $600 fine.
Q: Can I still get fired for testing positive for marijuana?
A: Yes you can. There’s nothing about the law that stops employers from banning marijuana in the workplace, or from firing you for having it in your system at the time of testing.
